Washington Capitals

Moving forward on a lucky strike, the Washington Capitals are on their way to complete 10-victory games in a row. The last match was against the Montreal Canadians, by 4-2, which now leaves them by one point in advantage over the Red Wings. If the Capitals manage to get through the 10th game, the team will be leading the Eastern Conference.

Surprise to the fans

This year the team’s performance has been impressive because of the previous three championships, on which the Capitals didn’t show as much potential as now. Thanks to the Canadians match, the Capitals are only in disadvantage compared to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Another reason to impress the public is the fact that the Capitals team has suffered a lot of pain through the season. The defensive leader Mike Green isn’t playing and the center Nicklas Backstrom is also away from the team. On the last game, the second center, Jason Arnott, didn’t even travel with the team because of an injury.

What the team says

The player that contributed to Marcus Johansson’s second goal during a game, Alex Ovechkin, said “If we have a chance to go and score goals we will, but sometimes one mistake can cost a lot. We’ve talked about it here in the locker room and the most important thing is when you get that lead, you try to protect that lead.” Because of the assistance on the goal, Ovechkin has 12 points in his games.

Another player who managed to score a goal for the Capitals, Brooks Laich, said on the victory “Those two guys being out (Backstrom and Arnott) one, somebody’s got to pick up the slack, but also it’s an opportunity for somebody else. You get a little more ice and you try to make the most of it.”
