The girl with the dragon tattoo to be released in 2011

Following the tendency of producing motion pictures after best-selling books, David Fincher is directing his own version of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The book’s author is Sweedish and passed away in November 2004. The novel makes part of a trilogy that was launched after Larsson died, as he had left three stories unpublished.

Where The Story Comes From

One of the main characters that take part in the storyline for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was based on a young girl who Larsson met in real life when he himself was just a 15-year-old boy. The reason why she was so memorable is because the author witnessed her being rapped and could not do anything in her defense. He named the character after the victim, both being Lisbeth.

Besides writing novels, Larsson was also a journalist. That is another fact of his life which influenced his books, as another of the main characters is the publisher of Millenium magazine. The name of the publication is what references Larsson’s Millenium series. The Girl With The Dragon Tatto won awards for best crime novel.

Mysterious Leakage

The film to be launched in 2011 which is based on the book is the second production inspired on the best-seller. The first one was directed by Niels Oplev in 2009. This first version was filmed in Swedish, while the second one is being run in English. Soon after the 2005 version was released, about 25 countries had bought the picture and over 6 million had already watched it.

Now, as the date set for the 2011′s launching is December 21 (EUA and Canada), expectations are growing over what Fincher’s direction will bring to the public. A trailer leaked on the internet showing the dark style that the movie will follow. As the quality is not as bad as other leaks, some suspect that the release was actually done by a company involved in the production. That would be explained as a marketing strategy to instigate people’s desire to watch the film.
