Strawberry Festival
From last Thursday, 03, until the 11th, Florida has once again the annual Strawberry Festival in Plant City. The eleven-day event provides many options for family pleasure and a great excuse to eat lots of delicious strawberries. People from all over Florida, and the rest of the rest, gather to enjoy this once-a-year opportunity.

Besides having delicious berry sweets to eat, all through the Strawberry Festivel other entertainment options are on the table. Within the music area, the main names in concert include Chubby Checker, Tanya Tucker, Rick Springfield, Ray Price, and others. Some concerts are free, such as Dennis Lee and the Jay Taylor Band.
What some might not know is that all money spent inside the event goes to the organization Habitat for Humanity. This social group is specialized in building homes for families who can’t afford the cost themselves. Although the admission to the event is free, atractions as arts and crafts, the kids corner, the food court and some entertainment aren’t included.
Marketing manager for Habitat for Humanity, Kim Gabriel said: “What you spend inside goes to Habitat for Humanity. Our goal is to build 20 homes this year”. The estimation on last year’s Festival attendance was about 40,000 people. That value was all redirected to Habitat for Humanity. “We strive in partnership with the community to meet the needs of the families that need simple, decent and affordable housing”, said Gabriel.
On the opening day the atraction was the Gothard Sisters, who are Greta, Willow and Solana. The performers played and danced Irish music and after the presentation posed for pictures with the audience. A customer at the event, Catherine Turner, said that it was very good. “This is the kind of festival we enjoy the most. Very clean and family-oriented”, said Turner.
