As the American presidential elections are getting closer to parties and citizens, the decision to nominate the candidate for each political group has to be made just as soon enough. The United States has two main parties: the Republicans and the Democrats. The first one is in more evidence when the subject is possible candidates as they are the official opposition to Barack Obama’s government.

One of the most conservative Republicans to have his name considered for the 2012 elections is Rick Santorum, former Senator of Pennsylvania. As a matter of fact, Santorum has already created an exploratory committee for the campaign possibility in less than one year’s time. Besides being Senator, Santorum was also elected to the US House of Representatives in 1990.

The reason why he is considered an extremely conservative Republican politician is for his pro-life, pro-guns and anti-gay-marriage opinions. Santorum defends politics which go against the abortion legalization and against the acknowledgment of homosexual relationships. Another characteristic related to him is the continuation of the Bush Republicanism.

Consequences Of Provoking The Gay

When Santorum kept making announcements about his opinions on gay marriage and gay lifestyle, the gay community fired back. The politician’s last name became a sexual neologism which makes reference to a gay sex trait. The ‘term’ was launched by columnist Dan Savage, in 2003, who even asked readers to send other definitions to what the new word could mean.

Once Savage created an official website to publicize even more the provocative reference to Santorum, the surname became the most searched last name on the internet. A recent event related to this is actress Keira Knightley’s own web search which ended up on the sexual meaning of Santorum, and not the political person.
