New iPhone leaves public wanting more

One of the most popular companies in the world, Apple, presented the new iPhone during this Tuesday’s conference in Cupertino, California, scheduled together with the teaser ‘Lets Talk iPhone’. Contrary to what most people were expecting, Steve Job’s replacement, Tim Cook, did not introduce the iPhone 5. Instead, Apple prepared an iPhone 4 update, which was baptized as iPhone 4S. A consequence of the disappointment could be noticed when the company’s stocks went down 5% after the announcement.

Korean Frustration

With lots of fanatics over Apple’s products, complaints about the iPhone 4S were noticed all the way to Seul, in South-Korea. The time difference between both countries was not a factor to keep the fans away as several people were following the updates on Twitter and other networks. An eager Apple client, Lee Taek-sang, said he was anxious to renew his iPhone, but now is just frustrated.

“The first thing I did when getting out of bed this morning was to look up the iPhone news online. I was hugely disappointed. I was expecting something groundbreaking, but it was just a soaped-up version of the previous phone,” said Taek-sang. For the director of the IT Convergence Center at South Korea’s Kwandong University, Jeong Ji-hoon, “it was not bad compared with the iPhone one year ago, but audiences were disappointed because they were used to seeing Apple innovating.”

Against Expectations

The expectation over the iPhone 5 can be seen as the probable reason for such bad reviews over the Apple conference. Besides the fact that it was well-known that Apple was producing something about the iPhone, this was the first conference of the new CEO, Tim Cook. Basically, Cook had to nail this opportunity to finally earn his own merit after filling in Jobs’ shoes.

As for the device, the changes made are good improvements when compared to its last version. The integrated camera has better quality and the speed is supposed to be faster. Cook also announced that the updates guarantee over 200 new apps that can be used with the iPhone. That said, it is also good to remember that the iPhone4’s price is probably going to go down with a new model on the market.
