Navy SEALS Responsible For Bin Laden’s Death
After the official announcement that the Arab terrorist Osama Bin Laden was killed by American forces, which was publicized by the American president Barack Obama, several questions were asked about how the operation happened. It is known that the team had been planning to do so for a long time until the authorization was given to conclude the attack.
The ones who got the credits
Once the entire world was notified about Bin Laden’s death, the American government began to inform what procedures were taken. Some of the information given is that the US Navy Sea, Air and Land (Navy SEALS) were the responsible military organization to manage the termination of Bin Laden.
Because this team is so highly considered when military causes are involved, it is not an option to apply and be a part of the Navy SEALS. The government is the one in charge of choosing the best to be recruited from the other army sections and compose an elite special operations force.
Creation of the Navy SEALS
The reason to create a specialized army team is precisely for this kind of situation: the riskiest anti-terrorism mission and unconventional warfare. The plan consisted of assaulting the mansion where Bin Laden was hidden in helicopters and aiming to kill the Arab leader. Even though the US officials said that Bin Laden resisted turning himself in, the operation was considered a ‘kill mission’.
It was former president John F. Kennedy who created the Navy SEALS in 1962. As it gathers military personnel from all of the sections (Sea, Air and Land), the specialized team is trained to operate on all and any kind of conditions and situations. The group has 10 divisions with each of them responsible for a specific region of the world. Some consider the Navy SEALS to be the most effective military team existing today.
