Mubarak Still Detained At Hospital

After Egypt managed to unite its nation to protest against the dictatorial system which was being led by Hosni Mubarak since 1981, adding up to 30 years of the undemocratic government, the population managed to force his resignation. The protests lasted for 18 days and were encouraged by the fall of Tunisia’s government, led by Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

The Fall Of The Dictator

Once the Egyptian population realized that the possibility of getting rid of the dictator was real, since the Tunisians had managed it before, the protests started with the intention to end only when their mission was accomplished. After the 18 days of straight protesting, the Egyptian nation felt for itself what it is like to be a free country that fought for democracy.

Now, as Mubarak is no longer if charge of the country’s administration, Egypt’s general prosecutor recently made an announcement to allow the information to go public that the former president is on a 15-day detention. The measure was necessary because of the investigations being made on accusations of corruption and abuse of power during his government.

Mubarak’s Hospitalization

Another recent development of Egypt’s case is that Mubarak was hospitalized at a medical institution in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh. People still do not know what the exact reason for his hospitalization is, but it has been released that “near the end of his rule, he had been suffering from a number of health problems and had undergone gallbladder surgery.”

Even though he seems to be having health problems, Mubarak will be questioned at the hospital. While the prosecutor has not talked directly with Mubarak, his sons have already been taken into questioning. The former president’s medical problems have been identified since he left government and he has been living at the hospital since then.
