Martina McBride Performs At ACM

The Academy of Country Music (ACM) is the official event to honor the best artists and musicians that play this music style. The ACM exists since 1964 to represent performers of country music. This year, the awards honored Martina McBride as she performed her latest single Teenage Daughters while pictures of her girls were on the big screen placed right behind her.

The beginning of Martina’s career

Besides the opportunity to perform her song at the biggest country music festival, Martina’s song made it to the top of the country charts on March 29. Coincidently, that date is the same as her second daughter’s birthday. The celebration was even more exciting to the singer as now her song really represents her two teenage daughters.

The country singer’s first label album is The Time Has Come, from 1992. When she first started singing and composing, Martina had no idea that she would come so far and that so many people would enjoy her music. The Kansas girl only wanted to be able to perform the music she loves and have others appreciating it with her.

Inspiration to keep going

Now that her career has grown, Martina sees things a little bit differently “It’s crazy, but I know from the internet and things like that there are still people discovering my music and hearing me for the first time. It might be a new song that gets their interest. I might be singing at a football game that makes them aware of who I am or they might hear an old song on the radio. Whatever it may be, people are still discovering my music. We’re still making new fans that are coming out to see our shows that have never seen us before.”

The single Teenage Daughters was written inspired by an episode when her oldest daughter, Delaney, who is 16, told her father that she thought Martina hates her. From that moment, Martina decided to co-write the lyrics with the Warren Brothers about the relationships with teenagers and, more specifically, about hers with the girls.
