Lollapalooza Sells Out First Tickets
As music fans have several bands in their favorites list, as each year goes by it gets harder to presence a live concert of those musicians. International performances are expensive and not every year the bands decide to include some countries on their tour schedule. So, in order to make it possible to attend several concerts in one day the music festivals were created.
First tickets sold out
One of the most popular music festivals today is the Lollapalooza. It was organized by the Jane’s Addiction lead vocal, Perry Farrel, until the year of 1997. After the initiative, the festival only got back on track in 2003. The inspiration to create Lollapalooza was the Woodstock festival, as they both were idealized to represent the youngster‘s spirits.
The edition of 2011 had its early-birds tickets sold out in one hour. Those tickets were cheaper than the ones that are available now and also a pass for the three days of the festival. This year, the festival is going to take place during August from the 5th to the 7th in Grant Park. Tickets are still on sale on Lollapalooza’s official website. The complete concert schedule has not been published because the organizers are still confirming the attractions.
The inspiration’s history
The most famous of all festivals is the Woodstock Music & Art Fair, which happened in 1969. At that time, hippies and rock n’rollers were putting all their efforts on the possibility of creating an alternative event with most of the musicians and artists that shared their same ideology.
The festival lasted three days with an average of 10 concerts per day. That was the time when Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, and others, were on the peak of their careers. At first, the event was produced to be a private concert, with tickets for sale. But as there were over 500,000 people at the day, the fences were broken down and it turned into a free festival.
