Katie Couric Might Leave CBS Evening News

As time goes by, each year women figures get even more respect for their work and are on the spot to get hired by different companies. An example of a successful woman who today can chose where she wants to work at, what she wants do to and with whom she wants to be with, is Katie Couric. The latest news is that she is about to leave the CBS Evening News.

Katie Couric’s career boom

What most impresses people is that she has been for less than five years at CBS network. When she was hired, she was the first female journalist to host alone an evening news program. As she kept going, Couric got to prove how she would only increase her success and turn into a desirable piece of employee for TV networks.

At first, when she had just started at CBS, Couric tried to produce a different format for the TV news program. Instead of just plain anchoring functions, Couric started to invite people in order to make interviews during the show. In the beginning, the innovative interviews managed to attract more viewers, but soon went back to the regular audience numbers.

Rumors to be proven

The news that she is about to leave CBS is not official and was given by a source that works at the network, but did not want to be identified. The CBS spokeswoman Sonya McNair said “We’re having ongoing discussions with Katie Couric. We have no announcements to make at this time. Until we do, we will continue to decline comment on rumor or speculation.”

What is known is that her contract with CBS goes until July 4th. If the rumors are true, the show that she intends to produce with a different network will be a syndicated program and with the format of a talk show. Up to now, the possible networks which she might end up working with are CNN and NBC.
