Journey seems to be television’s favorite band

When a musical group is good, it does not really matter from what time it comes from. The only thing that matters is the quality of its music, which can only get better as years go by. A band that conquered its fame back in the 70’s is Journey, which has recently been on the spotlight because of several other productions, such as TV sitcoms and series.

Back On Track

Even though it might not hit everyone’s memories as it happens, Journey’s anthem song, Don’t Stop Believin, played at the end of The Soprano’s series back in 2007. The music came out from a jukebox at a dinner party, which is already pretty nostalgic in itself. On the other hand, a series which became more popular over the past couple of years is Glee, and their own anthem is Don’t Stop Believin.

Contrary to what usually happens with the 70’s band, Jouney is one of the few that managed to stick together, even if it was necessary to arrange some replacements along the way. In 1998, the lead singer was replaced, but the group that existed then is still active until today. Before they had to change lead singers, Journey had its reunion in 1995, which was enough to want more.

Televised Music

Online teacher for the course Rock and Roll in America, at the University of Iowa, Steve Horowitz said “Journey is the ultimate embodiment of the people’s rock band. Except for during the band’s early years as Santana band refugees performing jazz-rock, critics have hated Journey for their slick style.”

Besides The Soprano’s and Glee, other television shows are proof to the fact that Journey is a favorite for the small screens. Their music has been used in Family Guy, Scrubs, American Idol, Celebrity Apprentice, and others. Even if the band does not survive for a long time, they will not be forgotten any time soon.
