Indian news brings terrorist attack
Indian local authorities confirmed that the number of fatal victims from the probable terrorist attack in Mumbai went up to 21. Three bombs exploded in a sequence and all happened in a period of time which lasted 15 minutes. Besides those who died from the explosion, about 113 people were left injured. With the consequences that have already been noticed, this attack configures as the worst India has even been through.
Country In Panic
Even though no terrorist group has claimed the attack, authorities have narrowed down the possibilities under two Islam communities: Pakistan-based militant groups or the Indian Mujahedin, known as a homegrown terror organization. The reason why those might be the authors of the crime is because of the attack that happened in the same Indian city in 2008.
Once the bombs were detected as a terrorist attack, Mumbai receive the alert message. At the same time, Indian Home Minister, Palaniappan Chidambaram, requested that citizens from the country’s financial center remained calm, so as the rest of the nation. At the moment of the explosion, people were leaving from work to get home or going out straight for dinner. A television channel managed to get images from the blast, which show a dismembered body covered in dust and police-men attempting to keep things in order.
Sad Testimonies
Owner of a shop in the Zaveri Bazaar area, Pravin Gada says he heard the blast and witnessed part of the attack. “I saw six or eight seriously injured people with blood all over them being lifted in floor mats by locals and taken to the hospital in taxis. The bodies were covered in blood. I usually can’t look at injuries without getting queasy, but this was the first time I’d seen such injuries. The skin of some of the injured was completely gone.”
Another citizen who was close to one of the attacks, Hemant Mehta says that this is a clear wake-up call for the government. Even though she recognizes that the police went into action as fast as it was possible, the situation was still mayhem and it was obvious how their system is full of flaws. The government said the specialists are being brought in from New Delhi to analyze the evidences and track down those who are responsible for the attack.
