Happy Endings Premieres On ABC
As new series have their premieres announced and aired, the main question that surrounds people’s minds is: will it last? Some patterns are constantly reproduced by TV series writers, producers and directors, which might work out or reproduce same mistakes as others have made. The latest comedy production that had its first episode transmitted was Happy Endings, on ABC.
New productions, old standards
Some of the established patterns that this new sitcom already presents are the successful Friends series example. Friends is remembered until today. I ended in 2004, as the group of six friends split up in two couples, a main character that married a secondary character and Joey.
On the other hand, Happy Endings has the same amount of actors, which also are divided in three men and three women, but Casey Wilson, who is one of the actors casted on the new show, says that the model has to be worked on a different way to avoid the same mistakes that even the Friends series went through.
Happy Endings storyline
Along Wilson, actors Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Eliza Coupe, Damon Wayans Jr. and Adam Pally are also on the show’s casting. The plot starts when character Alex (Cuthbert) leaves her husband-to-be waiting at the altar and runs away. From that moment on, Alex ruins everyone’s happy ending, as she is Jane’s (Coupe) sister, who is married to Brad (Wayans Jr.), and they all belong to the same group of friends.
Once Alex left Dave (Knighton) on the wedding day, the episode followed with the groom’s desperate search for his supposed bride and the bridesmaids and groomsmen leaving off to the bar. To make matters worse, all wedding gifts are left at Dave’s home and he suffers even more by having the constant reminder that he was left by the woman he loves.
