Guitar chords can be played on Google Doodle

Besides being a company which provides all kinds of internet services, Google is also known for honoring those who have already passed and contributed to society in any kind, or by remembering an invention which has influence until today. The means that Google uses to make such honors is through its own Google logo, as it is the first image people see when at the home page.

Musical Interactivity

Today (9), Google decided to produce an image which honors a person and an invention. Instead of a still picture and modern drawing, the latest Google Doodle is interactive and allows people to create music instantly and on the web. A reproduction of Les Paul’s guitar chords which can really allow the user to play the guitar.

As the fun is not only about playing with the sounds until reaching something decent, today’s Google Doodle also has the function of recording whatever comes out of the experience. On the official Google blog, the designer Alexander Chen posted “If you’re curious, the doodle was made with a combination of JavaScript, HTML5 Canvas (used in modern browsers to draw the guitar strings), CSS, Flash (for sound) and tools like the Google Font API, goo.gl and App Engine.”

What Grants The Honor

One of the most important products created by Les Paul, which is the reason for being one of Google’s Doodle’s, is the contribution on pioneering electric guitars. After years of practicing and studying how the best guitar could be made, Les Paul was one of the first to reach the solid wood body for the instrument.

The reason for publishing the honor on this date is that it would be his 96th birthday. In 2009, Les Paul died of a pneumonia complication in New York. Probably, some of the most famous bands of today could not have produced the kind of music they have if it was not for his influence and work with musical instruments.
