Green lantern earns weak reviews

A way of getting some time off from the real world, where we have to face our daily obligations, is by diving in the literary dimension. Even though some may think that true reading is only about classics and the so-called important books, comics is an alternative approach to develop an interest towards the activity.

Importance Of The Past

As the movie business has been using already popular released stories to rewrite a version for the screens, some characters from the comic books have been remembered to have a film totally produced for their sake. One of the latest releases concerning this theme is Green Lantern, who had its first appearance in the All American Comics in July 1940.

However, maybe because the fans from the stories that already exist from the comic books have memories from their favorite characters’, making a movie about a superhero is as dangerous as any ‘deeper’ production. Considering it is based on a previous story, the film has to be faithful to the past.

What The Experts Say

Now that the Green Lantern film is available on cinemas, several reviewers have published their critics. Probably not what the studios were planning, but the main opinions go on the negative way, instead of positive. The Rolling Stone magazine published that the film is “a new primer on how not to make a comicbook movie unless you want to screw shit up.”

Another well-known critic is the Rotten Tomatoes and their opinion follows the same path as Rolling Stone’s. On their website, the Tomatometer points 21% of approval, following the evaluation “Noisy, overproduced, and thinly written, Green Lantern squanders an impressive budget and decades of comics mythology.” No matter what the experts think, the only way of verifying their opinion is by watching it yourself.
