Glenn Beck Leaving Fox Creates Doubts

A controversial figure on FOX News TV, Glenn Beck, is going to leave the network at some point this year. The announcement was made by both sides, but does not mention when his show will stop being produced and whose decision was the final one to make the arrangements. Now, Beck says he will keep producing material for FOX News, but does not want to keep filming his show.

Peaceful agreement

On the announcements made it seems as if it was a friendly arrangement. Neither blamed the other part and they both emphasized that Beck’s company Mercury Radio will continue the work alongside Fox News. When Beck talked about his departure, the commentator compared himself with Paul Revere.

“Paul Revere did not get up on the horse and say, ‘I’m going to do this for the rest of my life.’ He didn’t do it. He got off the horse at some point and fought in the revolution, and then he went back to silversmithing,” said Beck. He used his own show, the one which will be canceled, to explain the situation to the viewers.

Controversial consequences

The TV host is a conservative opposition to Barack Obama’s government. As he usually says whatever he wants and everything he thinks about politics on his show, the government has officially declared that Beck and FOX are opponents of the White House. His strong personality is one of the reasons presumed to have led to the decision of not renewing his contract.

Even though FOX shares the same opinions as Beck, the company is one of the largest in the country. In order to keep their schedule, and as every other network, FOX needs advertisers. As most of them do not want any sort of relation with Beck’s image, the reduction of interested advertisers in investing on FOX’s commercial time might be something to think about.
