After Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal in the BNP Paribas Open, the world number one nomination might also be on the way for Djokovic. With this last victory, the Serbian completes 18 triumphs during the year and is unbeaten. Thanks to his success, Djokovic is already number two on the world list.

The new tennis favorite

Before Nadal, Djokovic had already faced Roger Federer in the semi-finals. At first, the Serbian’s good luck seemed to be fading as Nadal started the match on a good score. But it was just a matter of time until Djokovic got back on his feet and took over the match. The final score was 4-6 6-3 6-2.

Djokovic is also the champion of the Australian Open, which is already included in his set of 18 straight winning tournaments. Part of the reason that can explain Djokovic conquering so many titles is his high confidence, which only increases game after game.

BNP Paribas’ final

The opening set was dominated by Nadal, who was still confident that he would be the champion of the tournament. As the second set began, the first impression was that Nadal would keep up with his performance. But Djokovic managed to find his way with a break of serve and changed the course of the match.

On the right way, Djokovic still had difficulties in the second set. But once he managed to get through Nadal’s mistakes, the Serbian’s game started to improve and level up. Once the third set began, Djokovic had already regained his confidence and proved that he’s prepared to keep going on.
