Disney Yellow Submarine

On September, 2010, Disney Studios had announced that the next motion picture to be produced would be a 3D Beatles’ 1968 Yellow Submarine film. At the time, the film was going to include 16 original Beatles songs and recordings from the movie’s first version. However, the company gave up on the idea.

The director of the script is Robert Zemekis, also known for directing Forrest Gump, which won an Oscar. Although Disney cancelled the agreement, Zemekis still has the option of convincing other studios of running his project.

Rumors on the 3D Yellow Submarine

Some of the reasons speculated on for Disney giving up are: budget matters, Zemekis low profits on his latest film, Mars Needs Moms, and a dismissed meeting with original Beatles’ members. Zemekis spread the word about his project in August, 2009

While the director had hopes that the script would be put into practice, the chosen actors to play the ‘Fab Four’ were Cary Elwes, Dean Lennox Kelly, Peter Serafinowicz and Adam Campbell. Another set idea to produce the film was to use the motion-capture technique, which is the kind of technology used in the film Polar Express.

Disney’s new projects

Besides the Yellow Submarine disappointment, Disney has confirmed Johnny Depp to play Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, for the fourth time. Also, Disney has contacted the director Guillermo del Toro to produce a scary picture named Disney Double Dare You.
