Cricket World Cup Update

The cricket season is starts February 19 and goes until April 2. Since the beginning of the World Cup, players have left the tournament and teams about to play on the semi-finals are being classified. Either way, there is a lot to talk about in the cricket world.

Pakistan x West Indies

Pakistan guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals after the West Indies match. Now, the perspective is that the team will play against India, but that is something to worry about later. Right now, the Pakistanese team celebrates the victory of 10 wickets over the other team. The winning team was with an advantage when they still had 175 balls left.

After the victory, on Pakistan’s national day, Afridi said “This is the best gift to give to my nation. There will now be more expectations to go on but I am just thinking game by game. The only thing we can do is give 110%.” Not on such a bright note, the West Indies were on a bad run since the match against England. In that game, the West Indies had an 18-run defeat.

Depression on the field

Not only on the physical side of sports, cricket also has to deal with psychological issues the players go through. The latest case is the England player Michael Yardy, who left the world cup because of depression. Yardy is already on his way home to have medical treatment. The first consultation was made with the squad’s medical team. Now England has to prepare another player for the Sri Lanka match in two days.

In a statement, Yardy said “Leaving at this stage of a World Cup campaign was a very difficult decision to make but I felt that it was the only sensible option for me and I wanted to be honest about the reason behind the decision.” According to the England board, Yardy has been trying to deal with the illness for a long time on his own.
