Bernie Madoff’s family tells their story on book

Once Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme was discovered, his entire family was dragged with him to the confusion and chaos that he alone managed to create. Even though this version which earns his family innocence from frauding hundreds of people and earning millions of dollars is not believed by everyone, Ruth Madoff and Andrew, the couple’s son, wrote the book ‘Truth and Consequences’ to bring their side of the story out to the open.

Righteous Success

According to the store buyer for Classic Bookshop, Dan Foster, “it’s done well. It arrived this week and we immediately sold out.” Following the same logic, Philip Snow of Boca Raton believes that “it’s going to make money because everyone is interested in this whole Madoff case and how he got away with it for so long.” The town where they lived is probably the most anxious to see what they have to say, considering that several of their own friends and neighbors either are or know a victim.

While participating on Today Show, hosted by Matt Lauer, Ruth said “I was in agony over the losses of all my friends. Everyone I know and loved was a victim.” Both of them stick to the story that no one else but Bernie himself knew about what was going on. When remembering how they found out, Ruth said that she asked her husband what a Ponzi scheme was.

Hard To Believe

No matter how hard they try to keep their version of the facts, the extension of their innocence is still doubted by Palm Beach County. Snow, from Boca Raton, insists “they had to know what was going on. I have a family business and the ones that are involved in the business definitely know what’s going on from a major to minor decision. Most family businesses are like that.”

Christine Lewis of Palm Springs shares the same feelings with Snow. Contrary to him, who will go by the book, Christine said that she refuses to give even more money to a story which has already brought enough pain to its victims. From her point of view, Ruth probably knows much more than she has already told and Christine believes it was Bernie who informed her of everything.
