The event chairperson, Janet Markowitz, said that at first she did not know anything about rodeo, as she got involved voluntarily. “It’s definitely exceeding our expectations. It’s completely unprecedented for a first rodeo. We have 251 cowboys”, said Markowitz. Besides the rodeo itself, the weekend will have all sorts of activities.
A former Championship Bull Rider, Donnie Halladay, promotes literacy on the subject and likes to share stories about his time on this occupation. Morkowitz says that, besides the presence of Halladay, other contestants are coming from all around the country. “I knew it was going to do well. But I didn’t think it would do as good as it is. We’re really doing well with interest. I’m just thrilled”, she said.
